He was born January 8th, 1942 in Hickman, Kentucky to Mary and Wesley Watson. He was a brother to eight siblings. He was a passionate member of the United States Navy for twenty- six and a half years, retiring as a chief in 1989, from Squadron VP-56 at Naval Air Station JAX. While in the Navy, he married the love of his life, Ann. They were married for thirty-nine years and had a family of nine children: Michael, Patricia, Steve, Terrie, Bob, Jon, Sabra, Wesley, and Chris.
He enjoyed retired life by spending time with his twenty-three grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He also spent time enjoying outdoor activities, with his favorites being hunting and fishing. He was a very personable man with a bright smile, and witty sense of humor.
His wife Ann, brother Tom, Sister Betty, children, and grandchildren, survive him. His brothers Billy, Jim, Alfred, Charles, Fred, Wesley and his son Chris, precede him in death.
Family, friends and others whose lives Richard touched are invited to the Viewing and Funeral at Shindler Drive Baptist Church on Friday, January 10th, 2020 at 10 am (viewing) and 11 am (Funeral Service). Richard’s final resting place will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
