Richard Hennessey Parmelee passed away on January 5, 2021, in Orange Park, FL. He was born on September 24, 1930, in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, Richard was an insurance investigator before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. His overseas assignments included Saudi Arabia, Germany, Southeast Asia, and Italy. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. He enjoyed family, travel, woodworking, and yardwork.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Geneva Frier Parmelee; his parents, Edward William Parmelee Sr. and Ida Anna Kretschmar Parmelee; brother, Edward William Parmelee Jr.; sister, Betty Jo Parmelee Sims Wyant; and nephew, Jerry Allen Sims Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Parmelee; great-niece, Cari Ann Sims Burks; brothers-in-law, B.J. Frier, J.C. Frier (Ruth), and Fred Brooker; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Bales (Evan).
Visitation and graveside services will be on Wednesday, January 13 at 10:30 AM at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Facial masks are required.
