Richard Noble Beckwith, Sr. age 65, went home to be with the Lord on November 27th, 2024. A Jacksonville native, he was born on October 20th, 1959 to Judd “Bo” and Roberta Beckwith. Richard was a descendant of two prominent Florida pioneer families, the Abraham DuPont family and the Hopkins family. He graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson Senior High School in 1978. Following graduation, he began a successful career at Tompkins-Beckwith Mechanical Contractors where he learned the business from the ground up. After which, he worked for Milton J. Wood Fire Protection and retired after 25 years of service. Richard was an avid fisherman. He especially loved fishing in the flats near Summer Haven, FL where his family gathered for generations. His love for his family was only rivaled by his passion for the Florida Gators. Richard was a people person as he rarely met a stranger. He was a mentor and friend to many and he will be remembered for his warmth and laughter by those close to him for years to come.
Richard is preceded in death by his loving Wife, Brenda Jean Beckwith, and his Parents, Judd DuPont Beckwith and Roberta Diane Mansfield Beckwith.
He is survived by his Son Richard Noble Beckwith, Jr. (Emily); Stepchildren Taylor Charles Stewart and Victoria Jean Stewart; Brother Judd “Chip” DuPont Beckwith, Jr.; Sister Suzanne Beckwith Haley (Kent); Uncle Henry Hopkins Beckwith, Sr. (Madeleine); Aunt Norma Hansen along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be officiated by The Rev. Stephen C. Britt at San Jose Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, FL on Thursday January 9th at 11AM followed by a graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Richard’s name to the Salvation Army of North Florida, 328 N Ocean Street Jacksonville, FL 32202.
