Raymond "Sut" Sutherland

Raymond “Sut” Sutherland passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2017, in Jacksonville FL, after a long life filled with family and friends who loved him dearly. An Ohio native, he was born in 1935 to Jewell and Garnet Sutherland.

Sut began a long and distinguished military career with the Air Force at 17 years old, and later joined a California police force where he served happily for several years. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran and will have full military honors at his upcoming service. Known to his family as “Papa,” he is survived by his beautiful wife Judith, his loving brother Richard, as well as his children, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sut is remembered by all as an entertainer, an explorer, and a true patriot. He will be missed greatly.

A memorial Military Honors service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday July 12, 2017 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville FL 32218. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens, 729 Edgewood Ave. South, Jacksonville FL 32205.
