Ralph C. Garner, 83, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Henderson, Kentucky. Ralph was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War where he was a Radio Operator on a B-29. Later on he would become a Controller at Sureway Food Stores in Henderson, Kentucky and then became owner of Ralphs Hickory Pit Barbeque until his retirement. Ralph enjoyed fishing, golfing, and following his beloved Kentucky Wildcats Basketball. He also enjoyed traveling with friends and family and loved cruises. He loved cruises so much that last year he completed his 33rd cruise.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gloria Garner; their five children, Julie (Eddie), Steve (Pam), David (Lisa), Tracey (Scott) and Kelly (Sean); twelve grandchildren, Haley, Beth, Alan, Tyler, Sarah, Brandon, Rachel, Brad, Kaycee, Kennedy, Riley, and Connor.
The family will receive friends from 4pm until 6pm on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Hardage-Giddens, Hendricks Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256 and a celebration of Ralph’s life will continue in Henderson, Kentucky on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Immanuel Baptist Temple from 4pm until 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deermeadows Baptist Church Missions.
