Peggy Sue (Mathis) Weller, 82, resident of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Friday morning, February 1, 2013 at her home. Peggy was born September 17, 1930 in Vienna, Illinois to Leo and DeMarice (Sanders) Mathis. Peggy was the oldest of four children, sisters Barbara Angell and Phyllis Church of Aurora, Illinois and brother Buddy who died in 1935. Buddy was named after Billy James her Great Great Uncle who was also the uncle of Jesse and Frank James. Peggy and her family lived in Vienna, Illinois after leaving Missouri where they stayed until WWII started. Peggy was married to Charles E. Weller who passed away January 6th of this year. Peggy leaves behind to mourn, daughter Katherine Norton of Montgomery, AL; son Rick Weller of Jacksonville; and two grandchildren, Jared & Jennifer Norton of Atlanta and great granddaughter Hannah, and Dr. Andrew Norton of Panama City, FL. Peggy graduated from West Aurora High School in Aurora, Illinois and was married shortly after graduation in June of 1948 to Charles Weller. They were married 65 years. They lived in Jackson, Michigan where their daughter was born and Battle Creek, Michigan where their son was born before moving to Jacksonville. Peggy worked for a short time for the City Hall of Jackson, Michigan while her daughter was in college. She enjoyed reading, painting, sewing, sailing and genealogy. Peggy was a precious role model and will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful wife, beloved mother, and friend. We thank God for her life and the positive influence she had upon her family and those who were dear to her. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday the 8th at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
