Patricia Joyce Bridges. Born March 17, 1936, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, with family and friends by her side after months of courageous battle with multiple illnesses. Patricia was the daughter of the late John Spaulding of London, England and the late Katherine O'Neil Spaulding of County Cork, Ireland. Pat dedicated her life to raising her daughter Lisa Catherine Rebecca Snyder [spouse Jimmy] and the care of her special needs daughter Cheryl Lynn Bridges. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Travis Lamar Bridges; granddaughters Jessica and Jordyn Shukin [their father Kenneth]; grandsons Jakob Snyder and Elijah (EJ) Snyder. She is also survived by nephew Mark Holyoake of England, Larry Thornton, Kathy Riggs, and Deborah Harp of Jacksonville, and many other family members. Patricia Bridges co-founded special training facilities for developmentally and special needs children in Albany and Savannah, Georgia and the Cheryl Lynn Training Center in Miami, Florida. She was an active supporter of The Special Olympics and active member of her church. As the dedicated wife of a USAF member, she participated in military and military retired clubs and activities. Pat was so loved and will be missed by her family and friends. Her dedication to her life's tasks of hard work and caring attitude will be long remembered. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main St, Jacksonville. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 24 at 1 PM at the funeral home, with burial immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery.
