Pamela Sutton Goodroe of Jacksonville Florida was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 65 years of age. Pam was the adored wife of 21 years to Carl “Doug” Goodroe, often referred to by Doug as “his baby”. She was the cherished mom to Misty Lee (Pafford) Hall and Shelly Jean (Goforth) White and dedicated grandmother to grandsons Michael Lee, Jr., wife Danielle and Mitchell Lee and to granddaughters Alexis Jean and Ella Jaiden. She was also a great-grandmother to Karter Leigh, Michael Luke and Rylee Ann. She was the devoted stepmom to Victoria Lynn (Goodroe) DiStefano with grandchildren Chloe Lynn and Weston Joseph. She was the beloved daughter of Richard Henry Sutton and Peggy Marie McClain, survived by her father Richard and stepmother Marion; predeceased by her mother Peggy on November 7, 1975. Pam has a loving circle of siblings who include sister Peggy Ward, whom she was not only a big sister to but also best friend, and brother-in-law Denny Ward, brother Rick Sutton and wife Deborah, brother Greg Sutton and wife Tina, sister Laura Sutton, sister Lisa Fritz and husband Scott and brother John. Additionally, Pam has an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins who were dear to her. Pam was born on September 24, 1950 in Bradenton, Florida. She graduated from Ribault Senior High School in 1968. After a 30-year career with the United States Postal Service, Pam retired in 2009. She was a vibrant lady with a contagious smile, who loved the beach and the outdoors. Some of the things she enjoyed most were FISHING (very competitively with Doug!), working in her yard, her church involvement and children’s ministry, spending time with her family and grandchildren and most recently her hobby of Ancestry. Pam lived a rewarding life but amongst her greatest accomplishments was being the core and matriarch of her family. She loved her family and taught each and every individual in her own special way to love God, always do what is right and strive to be a better person. Not only did Pam instill these values but she led her life by example…planting the roots and shaping the lives of the little ones and continually influencing the lives of everyone else she touched. A memorial service will be held at Fruit Cove Baptist Church, 501 State Road 13, Jacksonville, FL 32259 on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 4:00 pm, followed by a reception for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Pam may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in honor of her years of support to this foundation: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O.
