Otis Leamon McIntosh Jr, 92 of Jacksonville passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease on June 29, 2022, peacefully at home with family. He was born April 10, 1930, to the late Otis L McIntosh Sr and Margaret (Maggie) Nelson McIntosh near Hilliard, Florida.
Otis graduated from Hilliard High School in 1949. He played basketball and was named All-conference. He also worked part-time for his father in the pulp wood business. Otis served in the army during the Korean War and drove Tanks as part of the 52nd Tank Division. Otis attend Jones Business College. He was employed by Southern Bell for 30 Years, working from cable splicing to the Management of Underground Crews on complex strip cuts.
Otis enjoyed family, camping, deer hunting, gardening, growing fruit trees, fishing, boating, grilling and was a voracious reader. He was well-known for his lake house Fourth of July events, family reunions and hunting camp. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, West Hilliard Hunting Club, Old 49’ers Camping Club, the Republican Party and for 47 years, Mandarin Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Glenda Hirschi McIntosh. Three children: Wayne A. McIntosh (Michelle), Teresa McIntosh Brooks (Terry), and Wallace McIntosh. Two sisters, Faye Beyer, and Laverne Dubose. Eight grandchildren: Dr Brandon Brooks (Amanda), Dr Bradley Brooks, Matthew McIntosh (Autumn), Michael McIntosh, Dr Brady Brooks (Madison), Mel Rose, Brian McIntosh, and Andrew McIntosh. Two great grandchildren Levi Brooks and Colton Brooks.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Bertha Collins, Lucille Rich, Brothers Charles McIntosh, Eddie McIntosh, and Harold McIntosh.
The family will receive friends and family July 8th at Hardage-Giddens funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Grave Side Services will be held July 9th at Live Oak Baptist Church 11:00 am with Rev. Hal McIntosh officiating.
A visitation for Otis will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
