WHITE Oscar LaVerne White, 82, was called home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2012. He was born on March 30, 1930 in Jacksonville, FL to Alexander M. White and Alice Russel White. O.L. honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1951-1953. He was a longtime employee of CSX, from 1947-1990, where he retired after 43 years of dedicated service. O.L. was a faithful member of Woodstock Baptist Church for 72 years. He will be remembered as a man who loved his church, family and friends. He also loved to fish, garden and spend time in the outdoors. He was known for constantly helping others. O.L. is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife of 60+ beautiful years, JoAnn; brother, Elbert White of Jacksonville; sister, Dora Clayman of Lake City; daughter, Diane (David) Taylor of Amelia Island; grandchildren, Allison (Shane) Johns of Amelia Island, Brian (Mary) Taylor of Durham, NC, and Travis (Stephanie) Taylor of Jacksonville; son, Richard (Kathryn) White of St. Augustine Beach; grandchildren, John White of Hastings, Alex and Katie White, both of St. Augustine; 5 great-grandchildren, Seth Johns, Kallie Johns, Luke Johns, Charis Taylor and Hannah Taylor. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 4-6 pm, Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the funeral home. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, May 14, 2012 at Woodstock Baptist Church, 9120 Crystal Springs Rd.
