Norris "Ed" Taylor was born in Albany, GA on December 1, 1934 and passed away in Jacksonville, Florida on August 12, 2021. Ed was born to his parents, Strawder P. and Maggie Belle Taylor and moved to Thomasville, GA in March 1935. He was raised in Thomasville until the age of 18 and graduated from high school there. Ed attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA and graduated as an industrial engineer in June 1959. For a short time he worked in Atlanta and South Carolina before settling in Jacksonville, FL in April 1963. He worked with Maxwell House Div., General Foods Corp. Plant in Jacksonville and one year in Tarrytown, NY until 1974. Ed accepted a position with Jacksonville Warehouse Co., Southern Packaging and Distribution, Citac Trucking Company as Executive Vice President in 1974 and continued the position until retirement in December 31, 2003.
He leaves behind his wife, Melba in Jacksonville; son, Christopher; daughter, Tamara (Rich); Mark Rogers (Donna) and Daniel Rogers (Sonali); 3 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Ed is predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Ed was an active member of Baptist churches for many years and most recently, an active member of Crossroads Ind. Christian Church.. He was also active in Traffic Club of Jacksonville for many years until retirement.
A graveside service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Mandarin Cemetery, 12535 Mandarin Rd, 32223.
