Nicholas (Nick) Macik, 91, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Nick was born in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Anna Macik on December 5, 1925. Nick is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Alice Louise Macik, his parents, George and Anna (Kovalchik) Macik. He is also preceded by brothers, Michael, John, George, Joseph (Hall) Macik and sister, Helen Hertick.
Nick was a very proud Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a PFC and Chauffeur 345. Nick received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Following his military service, he pursued a career with the Railroad where he retired in July of 1984.
After retirement, Nick started a family business in July 1995, called Macik Transport Systems, Inc. It was his pride and joy of his retirement.
He is survived by, his children, Faye (Ronald, deceased) Bullard, Roger Darrell, Gary (Becky), James (Sharon) Macik, Sandra Macik and his grandchildren Ronald Alan, Donna (deceased) Jamie, Roger, Selena, Wayne, and Nickolas Macik. He also leaves to cherish his memory 17 great-grandchildren and a brother, Andrew Macik and sister, Mary Resler.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Westside International Church of God of Prophecy, 1862 Fouraker Road, Jacksonville, FL 32221. Reverend Bruce Chivers will be officiating. Family visitation will be held at 11:00 am with friends following at 12:00 Noon on May 20, 2017 at Westside International Church of God of Prophecy.
