Born in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, Nicanora was the youngest of 7 siblings orphaned at a young age. Nicanora shared more than 50 blissful years of marriage with Luis S. Gotengco, with whom she had 7 children. She was a gentle and warm-hearted woman, beloved by many. A devout Catholic, she was a long-time member of Couples for Christ-Handmaids of the Lord and a forever Legionary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing. Nicanora immigrated to the United States in 1988, where she passed peacefully in the company of family in Jacksonville, Florida.
She is survived by her children Raymundo Gotengco, Rosalinda Malig, Rene Gotengco, Ruth Masculino, Rhodora Gotengco, and Ryan Gotengco, as well as 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Nicanora will be reunited with her beloved husband Luis and their son, Ricardo.
Funeral services will be held for family and close friends at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills (St. John’s Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225), and concluding the same day.
