Neomi Abella-Sanchez, age 53, of Atlantic Beach, FL, passed away on April 10, 2024, after a sudden cardiac arrest. She was born on November 11, 1970, at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, to Josefino and Ester Abella.
Neomi dedicated 26 years of her life to serving at the Florida State Lab as a Senior Word Processing System Operator, where she forged deep and enduring friendships, finding a second family among her colleagues.
In addition to her full-time work, Neomi found joy and excitement in her part-time role as Events Security, often working at sports events and concerts. Through this, she encountered celebrities, formed connections with the Jacksonville Jaguars football team, and made countless unforgettable memories.
Neomi had a zest for life, finding pleasure in watching NFL and college football games, listening to music from the 60s to the 80s, and indulging in daytime TV dramas. Her love for her family and friends was immeasurable, and she never missed an opportunity to express her affection and appreciation for them. With her easygoing nature and endless warmth, Neomi effortlessly befriended everyone she met, making each person feel like a cherished friend.
Neomi is preceded in death by her parents, Josefino Correa Abella and Ester Mora Abella.
She is survived by her sisters; Jocelyn “Joy” Abella Oviedo, Loweena Marie Abella Cripps,Valerie Abella Acosta, and her brother, Mark Steven Mora Abella; In-laws, Carmelo Teodoro Acosta and Maurica Gutierrez Abella; and her nieces and nephews, Sarah Elizabeth Oviedo McKay, Jake McKay, Justin Evan Oviedo, Jeanne Marielle Abella, Joshua Alexander Abella, and Joie Kristen Abella.
As per Neomi's request, she will be cremated, and her ashes will be buried alongside her parents in the Philippines. There will be no memorial service to celebrate her life.
The Abella family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who provided care and support to Neomi, particularly during her illness in recent years. Her unexpected loss leaves a profound void in the hearts of her loved ones, who will forever cherish her memory.
