Upon hearing about Tom's passing I was completely devastated. 

I worked with Tom on his home AV and from the moment we met I could sense the love of Christ in his soul. 

Tom wanted to have the media area in his home be a place for gathering and bringing his beloved family together, and that is what we did. For an older gentleman he had an excellent understanding of how his technology could work.

Any time Tom needed help or had questions he was patient and understanding and always treated everyone at our company with the upmost respect, often tipping them very generously.

From our first meeting I know Tom had an aching in his heart for his other half whom he had lost recently. He often spoke of his wife and his family and how much he loved being around them and the grandkids. 

It warms my heart to know Tom is finally with our Lord alongside Carol.

He will be dearly missed by the team here and we are available for ANYTHING the Hudson family needs.

Jenny, My heart has a big hole with the loss of Tom! I am so thankful for our friendship because it allowed Claude and I to get to know your entire family. You all have such a very special bond. I will always treasure the Bolles football games, the family holidays and parties and just sharing good times  together.  I pray that you trust that Carol’s and Tom’s love will never leave and will always be with you, a part of you. I know you and your brothers will carry on their legacy of love and joy of life. Hugs. Sending prayers for peace and comfort for all who loved Thomas🙏

Tom and Carol were family to me as a young man, and essentially acted as my parents when I got married. Since then we have stayed in touch, and remained friends over the many years and miles that intervened.  I'm so glad that we got to stay a few days in 2019 when my son, Luke, was getting ready to go on his YWAM DTS - and was somewhat of a reminder of how young I was when I first met Tom and Carol (and family).  Colette and I were thrilled to catch up in April this year, and stayed with Tom for a few days before our official wedding anniversary (35 years) - and it was almost as if no time had passed since our last visit - having visited on periodic occasions over the years.  We were excited to move back to the USA, and were looking forward to many more visits with Tom. We don't really have much family ... so it feels as though we have lost a defacto dad. Our hearts go out to all of the immediate family who will feel this loss so much more than we do. Tom's impact can be seen in his family, church, friends, work, and indeed in our family too.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking  your housekeeper and treating me as family and including me in every celebration.  Your such a wonderful example to the world of a great family. You've shown up for me, when my own family couldn't bother, I will never forget that.  There were times when I was scrubbing the floors and  Tom and John were sitting at the great big diningroom table working on my financial mess.   You all are truly a blessing to me❤️ I will miss you greatly 

Tom and Carol were some of the most wonderful people I’ve known. I still have conch shells found while staying years ago on A1A with that crazy huge table to fit everyone. I think I have a Camp Lollipop shirt around here somewhere. Jenny, Michael and John, I am so sorry for your loss.

As Carol's cousin, I had a lifetime watching your Mom & Dad be wonderful giving & successful people. Except for the short time we lived in FL. , we did not get to spend much time with them, but every memory is a warm one.  And the Christmas letters always helped us keep track of their growing & active family. They were joyfully & rightfully proud of all of you.
We will watch Monday celebrating them & you on behalf of the whole Nicolls' clan.

Where do I begin? Perhaps, I think, back in 1947 when Morris, Martha and Tom (at least to me all his life) moved in as neighbors to my family, the Beirnes. Tom and I were the same age, except I was the older (by a month) and we became immediate friends, which carried through our lives for 76 years. He went to kindergarten, whereas I delayed my educational pursuits until the 1st grade. After that throughout life we’ve run parallel paths: from 1st grade through high school, college (at arch-rival schools), military service (different branches, of course) and landing in Roanoke following our military service. After that we’ve stayed closely in touch. 

We didn’t have the opportunity to get together often, but we met from time to time to catch up on one another and our families and to share chuckles over some fond memories. Two come to mind: the first in high school when somehow we came up with the name Shakestick, a combination of Shakespeare, whom we were studying at the time and who knows what else, a name we affectionally called one another as late as April of this year when we met for lunch; the other was the total flop of our high school science fair project for which Tom and I decided to work together - we had grandiose plans of a 3-D model of the universe rotating about the sun that ended up as a 2-D clay incased Tinkertoy arrangement of a few planets lying flat on the table. Our teacher was not pleased! We received either a C or B-, probably based on the superb narrative we wrote describing our project. And from time to time I sent him a copy of my “participation” certificate, so we could just laugh and laugh. 

I felt honored and privileged to be able to be his friend for essentially all of our lives. It wasn’t that we got together face to face often, but the fact that I always knew he was just a phone call away where we could catch up on the latest that was always of great comfort. 

Sadly I shall miss you, Shakestick.


Tom was a great person to be around and work with. I started working with RJ in 1999 and was fortunate to be around him and some of the other executives in tower 4 on the 9th floor early in my career. I still tell a story about the Lightning tickets he gave me that were on the ice corner glass. That evening one of the Lightning defenders hit an opponent so hard they put them through the glass behind the net right next to the seats. The next day I brought in a gift box containing a piece of the glass and a thank you note stating something along the lines of  “Sorry you missed all the action.” As a new associate and getting such great tickets, I was thrilled. He got a kick out it and he came by to talk about it later. It didn’t matter that I was some young new employee, he would spend time and speak with you. He was a very genuine nice person to be around. I am sorry to hear of his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mr. Hudson was a second father to me growing up in everyday! From spending all my time with Jennie at their home having dinner, laughing, sharing stories to being woken up bright and early on Saturday mornings for yard work. He and Carole made a huge impact on my life and I am forever grateful for all our memories and love we shared! You will be greatly missed by so many. Rest easy until we meet again❤️

My memories of Thomas begin in Conneautville when Carol brought him home to introduce Thomas to the family.  Even then it was apparent he was a special person.  I know he will be deeply missed.  Thomas was a Godly man and is now reunited with Carol singing in heaven 

Tom reminded me of my dad, which is a compliment I reserve for very few.  The Knox family will truly miss Tom/Pop Pop. 

Thomas came into my life when he was about 12 years old as a new Boy Scout. I was one of his older leaders and was able to share this experience for the next 3 years with him. The friendship continued for the rest of his life although we were miles apart. Because of his deep faith, I know he was right with his Lord and ready to join Carol in her heavenly place. I feel honored to have had him in my life. 

To the man who always made sure we had a seat at the game, seat at the table and glass filled with cheer, we will always be thankful for your kindness, generosity and friendship. We rejoice in knowing that you are back in the arms of your true love.
