Born and raised in Jacksonville, he was a Boy Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School in 1991. He was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed works by Stephen King, Anne Rice and Neil Gaiman. He had an eclectic taste in music, with a particular soft spot for Morrisey. He loved all animals, trivia, watching movies and spending time with his family and friends. Despite his ongoing struggles, he charmed most everyone he met, had a snarky sense humor, and loved engaging in witty banter. He was the best instigator, and loved to aggravate people the way that only a brother could. He was loved deeply by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Gretchen Cottrill (nee’ French). He is survived by his father, David, his sisters Christina DiMaio (Brian) and Kathleen, nieces Emily and Natalie, and nephews Aidan and Declan.
