

The memorial service will be held in Jacksonville Florida at Oaklawn Chapel & Cemetery on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Richard E. Carney, the pastor of Park Lane Baptist Church in Jacksonville Florida will be officiating.
Immediately following the service, Mr. Brent Perry, the Funeral Director with Oaklawn Cemetery has arranged for Mrs. Campbell to be flown to Pennsylvania were she will be laid to rest on Thursday, March 24, 2016 with her husband William K. Campbell at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery located in the city of Annville, Pennsylvania.
Mercedes, the youngest of thirteen children to Francisco & Annie Jimenez, was born in the city of San Antonio, Texas on September 24, 1922. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941 and worked in the United States Civil Service department at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio Texas.
Mercedes would go on to meet William K. Campbell during his tour of duty in the United States Air Force at Lackland and were later married there in San Antonio on September 24, 1949.
Mercedes worked in the health care field as a Transcriptionist and Administrative Assistant for Brandywine Hospitals were she retired after more than thirty years of service. She enjoyed collecting Rare Coins, Postage Stamps and was also actively involved in the church.
Mercedes is survived by her son Michael Wood & wife Leith Oatman, together with their children, Brian Wood, Morgan Hargrove, Forrest Farlow and their grandchildren Skye and Gavin, and on her daughter’s side Peggylee & husband Ed Kozak, together with their children, Michelle McMullen, Angela Wolf, Mark Tomlinson, Jeremy Tomlinson and Grandchildren, Courtney, Chelsea, Taylor, Mason, Kaleigh, Cameron, Whitnay, Paris, Preston, Isiah, Isabelle and one Great Grandson Grayson.
Mercedes is preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Campbell on May 23, 1983 and her Grandson, Christopher Tomlinson on January 14, 2009.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be given to Northeast Florida Community Hospice for their devotion to Mercedes and unfaltering support of the family.
