Maynard Milo Munn passed away on June 17, 2020 at the age of 92. Maynard was born May 19, 1928 to Rupert and Martha (Morrison) Munn in Flint, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army for two years before moving to Jacksonville in 1953, where he became a beloved part of the family of his longtime friend and business partner Millard F. Smith, Jr. Maynard worked for Great Southern Trucking Company (now Ryder) and then Delta Air Lines. A frequent traveler, Maynard made 20 trips to Europe and one to Asia. Opting for early retirement from Delta, Maynard and Millard opened Carriage House Antiques on Bull Street in Savannah. A talented piano player, Maynard played piano at church and at the historic Olde Pink House in Savannah. Maynard and Millard returned to Jacksonville in 2005 for a second retirement. "Uncle Main" made regular trips back home to Flint, Michigan, which included going back to his childhood church, Central General Baptist Church in Flint. The Munn family helped to physically build the church, where as young man he played the piano for the church. On his visits back, he would take up where he left off over the years and play piano, accompanied by his niece Martha on the organ. Together they did their best to recreate a honky-tonk style of the old hymns. “Mansion over the Hilltop” never sounded better. Maynard is survived by Millard’s sister, Gloria S. Nunn, his nieces Martha Buxton and Allyn Lutz, his nephews Charles Munn, Daniel Nunn and Andrew Nunn, and many friends. Maynard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Raymond Munn of Lennon, Michigan.
