Maxine Francis Mahal

Maxine Francis Mahal, 80, passed away June 15, 2023, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle because she never stopped fighting, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, she stayed strong. Through her faith and standing on Gods promises, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in her.

Maxine was born July 23, 1942, in Chicago, IL to Andrew Adam Basgall, of Topeka, KS and Maxine Ruth Getty, of Waterloo, IA.

Maxine was a devout, active member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, where she participated in numerous church functions. She was an instrumental figure for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s spiritual path and their sacraments in the Catholic faith. She was very active with her great-grandchildren, attending their sporting events, dance recitals, and school functions. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating, sewing, collecting dolls, and ceramics.

Maxine is preceded in death by her father and mother, Andrew, and Maxine Basgall; Husband, James Mahal; Brother-in-Law, Dwayne Wiles; Nephew, Keith Curtis.

Maxine is survived by her three children, Thomas (Audrey) Mahal, of Bushnell, FL, Ruth (Stephen) Page, of Live Oak, FL, and Beth (Michael) Selinski, of West Branch, MI; Siblings, Patricia Basgall, Diane (Dan) Corcoran, Elizabeth (Leith) Curtis, Maryann Wiles, Andrew (Kathy) Basgall, Robert (Elon) Basgall, Judith (Mike) Wiles; Seven grandchildren, Stephen, Carrie, Ryan, Brandon, Justin, Bobby, Natasha; Twelve great-grandchildren, Milo, Jacob, Jessalyn, Conner, Liam, Madison, Adeline, Grayson, Mason, Lucas, Olivia, and Jake; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.Celebration of life services will take place at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 10472 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246, on (TBD).
