Max Joseph Cassagnol

Max Joseph Cassagnol, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2023. He was born on March 19,1945 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He attended primary school at Jean Jacques Dessalines, secondary school at Max Penette, and later earned his accounting degree from the Julien Crane Institute, in Haiti

Max is survived and missed by his loving wife and friend of 51 years, Mireille (née Bernard); and his children, Tammarah (Brunache), Rene-Max, Alix (“adopted”), Martine (Renelus), Manouchkathe, Elizabeth, and Alain. Forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren, Jason, Randy, Kahlil, Cassandra, Maulissa, Athalia, Bradley C., Athazia and Bradley R.; Siblings and their families; Joseph & Herlerie, Frank & Ruth, Alida & Jean-Pierre, and Mary Lourdes. His memory will be cherished by the Bernard family; Mirtha (Titus), Welkern, Alda, and Widdgin.

His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Pierre-Henri, Joël, Stephanie (Taylor), Olivier, Fred, Marie-Angelique, Michael, Cybille-Alida (Tate), Ducarmel Francois, and Sherly (Pierre). On his wife’s side: Cynthia (Nianzou), Maydge (Aristide), Johnny, Kenny, Mickendly, Tashi, Slavicka, Slavick, Kayla, and Valorhya, His great nieces and nephews: Carolin, Donicio, Kayden, Alana, Kameron, Kaitlyn, Jaxson, Penelope, Jupiter, and Apollo. On his wife’s side: Analia-Charlotte, Ariane-Mia, Kassandra, Johnson, Harlow, Soleil, Damian, and Lucas.

He will also be remembered by his closest relatives and their families: Raymond (uncle and last living relative of Max’s father), Andre & Thérèse (cousin), Raymond Jr. & Maude (cousin), Monique (cousin), Paula (cousin), Yves (cousin); and friends: Yves Juste and Jackey Wooley,

Max was predeceased by his parents Alexandre Henri and Licencia Douze Cassagnol; his brother Adolf; and his closest cousins; Thomas and Gerard,

Max was known for his great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke or a witty comment. A personality trait he passed down to all his kids (some more than others). Even in his time spent as a dialysis patient, those who were rendering his care stated that he was best known for his infectious humor and kindness. He was a very hard worker and was respected by his colleagues and peers.

Max didn’t have many passions, but anyone who knew him knew that he loved music (especially Tropicana d’Haiti). He loved cars (namely the older models). He’d always share endearing stories about his time spent in Haiti as a child. His stories often involved the adventures he would embark on with his childhood friends Jean-Pierre and Jacky (named above). In his free time, he enjoyed watching Haitian news, cowboy movies and spending time and talking with family and friends. He wasn’t the adventurous type, but he loved to travel (preferably by car) and explore new places that didn’t require getting on an airplane or boat.

Max was a devoted family man and most loyal friend. He was a kind and generous person who touched the lives of many people. He will be remembered, and his legacy will live on through his family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Max Joseph Cassagnol's life will be held on March 4, 2023, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207.
