Matil Saoud, 93, beloved Mother and Grandmother (Teta), went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, sleeping peacefully while surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. She was born on January 24, 1919 in Haifa, Palestine. In adulthood, she lived in Lebanon where she worked as a dressmaker. She immigrated to Jacksonville, FL in 1980, and was since a faithful member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. Despite many struggles throughout her life, she was always optimistic, smiling, and had unwavering faith in her Lord. Her family, and everyone who knew her, loved her. She was married to Raja Saoud (deceased). She is survived by her two sons, Edmond (Hikmat) and George (Lamia); grandchildren, Raja (Laura), Joe, George, John, and Kristie; great-grandchildren, Edmond and Andrew.
Trisagion services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012, 7:00 p.m. (viewing starting 6:00 p.m.) at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 6300 Bowden Road, Jacksonville, FL officiated by Very Rev. Fr. Kamal Al-Rahil. Funeral services to be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church, followed by burial services at Greenlawn Cemetery on Beach Blvd. Donations are to be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
