Mrs. Ware was born in Valdosta, GA to Mattie Beulah and Epaminondas White. The family moved to Jacksonville when Mary was 3. While attending Robert E. Lee HS Mary performed as a vocal soloist in many productions and dreamed of singing on Broadway someday. After graduating from Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, Mary started a career as a Social Worker. In 1948 she met the love of her life Walter Estes Ware. Together for 64 years they raised 4 children, traveled the world, and entertained a myriad of friends and family.
After her children were grown, Mary returned to work as the Director of Social Services for Memorial Hospital. She was well-loved for her fierce advocacy and deep compassion for her patients. A lifelong sustaining member of Riverside Ave. Christian Church, Mary was a choir member and a tireless volunteer.
She is survived by 4 children, Jennifer Lee Ware (Andra), Walter Estes Ware, Jr (Penny), Mark McMath Ware (Jerri Lea), Christopher White Ware (Cindy ; 7 grand children, Mary Elizabeth Ware Moore (Jim), Jessica deBelle Ware Hartje, Sarah White Ware Davis(Jeremy), Walter Estes Ware lll; David Epaminondus Ware; Leigh Walker Ware, Christopher White Ware, Jr. and 6 great grand children Jeremy Daniel Davis, Jr., Caleb Drew Davis, Bradley Michael Davis; Kaden deBelle Hartje; Jacob Lineau Moore, Elizabeth Hodson Moore 💗.
Mom was the backbone of our family and we are forever grateful for the life she gave us.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 16 at 11:00 at Riverside Ave. Christian Church at 2841 Riverside Ave Jacksonville Florida 32205 with Minister Rick Hull presiding. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Riverside Ave. Christian Church. Arrangements entrusted to Hardage Giddens 729 S Edgewood Ave Jax. Fl 32205.
