Mary Neiters Walker (Jackie) passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, August 26, 2018. She was born March 24, 1927. Born at the Florida House in Fernandina Beach, Florida, she was a longtime Jacksonville resident. Her mother, Mary Sue Neiters, her father, Edward J. Neiters, her husband, Albert G. Walker, and her son, Michael N. Walker preceded her in death. She was an active Charter member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. She graduated from St. Paul’s Catholic School and was a sponsor of the first Gator Bowl game. She worked at New York Life Insurance, where she met her husband of 57 years, and from then on family became her number one priority in life. She enjoyed tennis and travel with her beloved husband. She raised 4 sons and a daughter and volunteered at Wyndham Lakes retirement home for over 20 years. She loved God and her family and always took care of others before herself.
She is survived by her sons, John G. Walker (wife, Susan) of Mt. Dora, FL, Albert Grady Walker, Jacksonville, Robert G. Walker (wife, Shelly), Jacksonville, daughter Cynthia Morphew (husband, Scott), Jacksonville, grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Joshua, Samantha, Tony, and Jacque, 14 great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday August 30th from 5pm- 7pm at Hardage-Giddens, the Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31st at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 6133 San Jose Blvd, with Pastors Donald Thompson and Eric Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to Lakewood United Methodist Church’s Children’s programs in her memory.
