Mary Agnes Powers

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend died peacefully in her sleep at home, in Keystone Heights, FL on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 5:07 p.m.

Mary (and twin sister, Anna Mae) was born December, 26, 1930 in Lexington, Kentucky to M. Perk and Catherine Castillo Lyons (Overstreet), of Lexington, Kentucky. She graduated from Henry Clay High School.

Mary attended Business College and had a long career as a Legal Secretary, Bookkeeper and Office Manager. She lived in Homestead, Florida for 7 years and moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1962. She has resided in Keystone Heights, Florida for the past 7 years.

At 50 years of age, Mary started her own travel agency, All Seasons Travel in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. She is a Lifetime Member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, David Powers of 57 years; four daughters: Debra Griffin and husband, Howard, of Keystone Heights, FL; Tamara Harris and husband, Dr. John, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Rochelle Tomooka and husband, Brian, of Windermere, FL and Michelle Kaufman-Perna and husband, Phil, of Chicago, IL. Ten Grandchildren: April Bradley and husband, Joe, of St. Augustine, FL; Karen Eubanks and husband, Richard, of Keystone Heights, FL; Savannah and Johnny Harris of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Alexandria and Nicklaus Tomooka of Windermere, FL; Jennifer Skarda, Stephanie Corlett, Emily Kaufman and Matthew Kaufman of Chicago, IL. Two Great-grandchildren: Emily and Joey Bradley of St. Augustine, FL.

The family would like to extend their heart-felt thanks to Community Hospice of North East Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257, for their exemplary care and compassion.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207 (904) 346-3808 at 1:00 p.m. The Reverend Bobby Pritchard of Lenoir, NC officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
