Cathy was born in Americus, Georgia to George Fletcher Johnson Jr and Mary Earle Kennedy.
She is survived by her Father, Fletcher Johnson, her Husband, Charles Peterson, her children, Joel Leynes, Chris Leynes, Natalie Cassels, and Clay Cassels, her sisters Leslie Emerson, Donna Herbertson and Beth Cayce, her brothers George Johnson, Paul Johnson, D A Rester and David Cayce and she was the proud Grandmother to 13 wonderful Grandchildren.
Cathy spent 25 years as a Legal Assistant for Law firms in the Jacksonville area after attending the University of North Florida.
Cathy loved to read and spend time with her cats. She also held a deep love of the outdoors and took many trips to the beach. She and her sister Leslie would take their grandkids camping in different locals around the Southeast. She especially enjoyed riding the tractor at their property in Lake Butler where she would spend hours maintain the landscaping and bravely fighting back the ever encroaching weeds and grass. Cathy enjoyed sailing to the Bahamas with Charles on several occasions. Infinitely kind and patient, she always offered help and solace to those in need. Cathy was a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, friend, confidant, shoulder to lean on, co conspirator, Care Giver, and an amazing person to know.
We will miss you and carry your joy for life and compassion with us.
