Mary Jane lingered a long time with Alzheimer's, much longer than most of us expected and we kept wondering to ourselves, why, Lord, is she remaining here in this way? Mary Jane's faith told her as 1Cor 7:14 says, "For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife...." and won by her lifetime witness to the Lord 1Peter 3:1-2.  Within a few weeks after her husband received salvation through Jesus, Mary Jane journeyed home to the Lord.  We do not believe this was coincidence, since my father, her Bill, had been an atheist for 96 years.  The Lord used her prolonged illness to give my father more time to hear, see and experience others' faith in Jesus, our Lord, for salvation.  We see this as an example of Christ-like sacrificial giving by Mary Jane who loved her husband and wanted him more than anything to be in heaven with her one day.

The beach photo reminds me of how Mary Jane loved to visit the beach and how she would pick up shells as we walked, talked and shared memories.  For many years, perhaps 15 or 20, Mary Jane endured the Alzheimer's disease.  Her loving husband, Bill, cared for her by himself at home as long as he was able.  When she had to be cared for away from home for the last eight years, her Bill would go to her, sit with her, hold her hand, talk to her and feed her.  To her honor, Mary Jane fought the good fight; she finished her course; she kept her faith, as her Lord told her to do in 2Timothy 4:7 and will receive her crown of righteousness in heaven 2Timothy 4:8.  In her memory, the photo is captioned as Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Our favorite photo of Mary Jane shows her wearing a light pink shirt against a blue background.  We like this photograph of her because it reminds us of her sweet smile and kind demeanor.  I would characterize Mary Jane while living as content in the Lord and now Mary Jane is truly at home with the Lord.

Mary Jane was always my big sister, taking care of me and providing me with all of my childish wants.  Many a day she would open the window at the First Baptist Church where she was working to answer my calls from outside on the yard, "Mary Jane, can I please have 11 cents to go to the movies and buy a tootsie pop sucker?"  She would then willingly toss me 15 cents instead.  Then she would say, "please stop making such a racket outside."  I would then go happily on my way.  I love her for ALL the wonderful things she did for me as I was growing up.  We will all miss her dearly.

I remember many visits from Mary Jane and Granddad when we were in TN growing up.  She loved to tell us stories. She made me a pretty necklace out of China beads and I believe she made some for others as well. She seemed to enjoy making them.  We enjoyed her visits and she embraced us as her own. She was very dear to our hearts. We rejoice now knowing we will see her again in heaven.

I remember, as a little girl, my mother , Victoria, and I would take a visit to see grandad and Mary Jane! Her and I would take walks to the church and visits her friends. We would also take naps together. She would stroke my hair until I fell asleep. She made my childhood memories sweet to remember!

Mary Jane was our dear sister.  We remember all of the wonderful family get togethers where she kept us laughing and showed her constant love.  We miss her beautiful singing voice and the many babysitting times where she loved on all of her nephews and nieces. Of course she sometimes threatened them with a ruler when things got out of hand.  She was a softie and never delivered even if the children deserved it.
She was generous with her love and caring. That was her gift from God - loving and helping everyone.  We will remember and love her always.  Her Christian witness was very special.

Mary Jane was my friend and she and I had wonderful times together. She was active with me in Women on missions and did many projects together. I will always remember her sweet smile and her caring for others.  Edith Jarriel

Remembering Mary Jane on our trip to Kissimmee with several of my five young children many years ago:  we were there to meet Dad and Mary Jane at a nice roomy condominium that Mary Jane and Dad had chosen for a weekend of fun at Disney Magic Kingdom with the kids.  After a sunny day full of excitement together, having never been to Disney before, the little ones still wanted to go back that night for more thrills until closing time, all except for Elizabeth who asked to stay with Mary Jane and Granddad who had had enough Disney.  While the rest of us were away that night, Elizabeth and Mary Jane bonded through an experience of swimming where Elizabeth showed off her swim skills to Mary Jane and Dad.  They enjoyed taking care of their granddaughter as much as she enjoyed being the "only child", for a change.

How do you sum up the love of a cherished Aunt in the space of a webpage?  Impossible.  The reality is that Aunt Jane was a constant presence in my life from birth until her alzheimers took her from us.  She was a staunch supporter of mine and was always on my side.  I can't remember a holiday where she wasn't with us - as we laughed as families are supposed to laugh.  Although gone from this earth - she is never to be forgotten.

Life is a gift God would have us enjoy as we come to serve him. Passing into his hands is the release of all our earthly bonds and the fruit of his hope for us. Bravo to Mary Jane.

My husband, Ron Cueman, and I, Victoria, would like to take this opportunity to thank the Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home Administration and Staff, Normandy Blvd location, for their care, kindness and attention to detail as they gathered the necessary family information following Mary Jane's death. Special thanks to Mr. Roger Delaney, Mr. Greg Spiess, and Mr. Terry Tilley for their professional assistance at this difficult time.  We appreciated the expert manner with which they conducted their communication and the funeral service preparations for Mary Jane Tait Law, beloved wife of my father, Bill Law and who was my step mother.  Already two weeks have passed since we received word of Mary Jane's passing and many memories have passed before me while thinking of her.  She loved flowers and enjoyed visits with our children when they were younger.   Mary Jane was a lovely lady, both inside and out, a woman of integrity who knew her Lord Jesus as Saviour and was not afraid to tell you about Him.  She was a faithful member of Murray Hill Baptist Church for many years and I know she would have loved hearing Rev. Jay Stuckey singing and playing his trumpet at her funeral.  She would also have liked her dainty pink roses that were given to each attendee in her memory.  I loved her and believe that she loved me as well and look forward to seeing her in Heaven one fine day.  Victoria Rushing Cueman
