She was born in Glasgow, KY to Sue Nancy Wilson and Hiram Jefferson Herbert, Jr. She received a BS degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. After a long career in property management, Mary Lyn received a real estate agent license and started a new career in Florida. She was a very loving person with a huge heart and a magnetic personality. She loved animals, especially horses and her many cairn terriers with whom she enjoyed sitting on the beach at sunset.
Survivors include her husband, David Gillespie, Jacksonville; daughter, Sarah Nicole Berry Stanforth and husband, Greg, Lake Wylie, SC; sister, Nancy Kilgore, Phoenix, AZ; brother, Hiram Jefferson “Jay” Herbert, III, Indianapolis, IN; step-daughter, Shannon Gillespie, Des Moines, IA.
Mary Lyn chose cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida.
