Mary Frances Davis Paxson

Mary Frances Davis Paxson passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at age 101 in Jacksonville, Florida. Mary Frances (known as Grandma Peaches to her three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren) was born in Jacksonville on September 12,1922 to Mamie Thompson Davis and James Archie Davis.

Friends and family describe Mary Frances as one of the strongest, happiest, and most positive people they have ever known. Mary Frances loved spending time with family and cats, playing golf, and gardening. Mary Frances was an excellent bridge player and had many wonderful friends throughout her life, with whom she enjoyed traveling.

Mary Frances is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Anne Paxson; her niece, Sue Rogers; her nephew, Bill Davis; her grandsons, Wesley C. Paxson III, Justin M. Paxson (Katrina), and Mark D. Paxson; her great-grandchildren, Kiara Paxson and Duncan Paxson; and her daughter-in-law, Susan H. Paxson. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mamie Davis; her brother, Sidney Davis; her son, Wesley C. Paxson, Jr.; and her nephew, Jim Davis.

A graveside service will be held on November 24, 2023 at 10 am. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, located at 4801 San Jose Boulevard, with Rev. Katrina Paxson officiating.
