She was born January 19,1931, to William Manson McArthur, Sr. and Ethel Bell McArthur in Marion County, Mississippi. She graduated from Bunker Hill High School and attended Pearl River College prior to going to work for Southern Bell, which led her to South Florida. She was transferred to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she met her husband, Billy Davidson. They were married for 21 years and had three children. After the birth of her first child, Marsha, they were transferred to Jacksonville. There she continued to work for Southern Bell for 35 years, retiring in 1989. She was a long- time member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. There she was an active member of her Sunday School class and had been a member of the Joy Singers. She loved helping others and her faith has led many to the Lord.
Mary loved being with her family. She loved and doted on her grandchildren, great-grands, and great-great-grand. She loved traveling to see her family and friends. She loved the mountains, working with the flowers in her garden, watching the birds and singing the old hymns. She had many talents; sewing, crocheting, gardening and cooking.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brothers Lavon (Jewel), Avans (Merle), Bill (Velma), and David McArthur.
She is survived by her children: Marsha Hart Clark (Ralph), Nancy Waller Alldread (Steve), Billy Davidson (Dina). 9 Grandchildren: Lindsay Teel, Jeremy Hart, Alex Waller, Sarah Stevens, Heather Rudd, Jared Davidson, Joshua Davidson, Braden Davidson, Mary Eileen Davidson. 10 great grandchildren plus one on the way and 1 great-great-grandson. Two sisters-in-law: Sharon McArthur and Connie Davidson. One Cousin, Coy Wayne Bell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Haven Hospice, especially Janie and Sarah, as well as Christie, Roma and Beth who gave our mother such loving care during her final months and days. We would also like to thank the Westside Faith Sunday School Class, at FBCJax, who always loved our mom and showed it in so many ways.
A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 8, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A committal service will occur Friday, December 8, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
