She served her community dutifully as one of the first women ever to graduate the Jacksonville Police Academy. After 25 years of service she retired as a Sargent from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and began a second career as a police officer for the State of Florida, serving at the University of North Florida for 10 years.
She is survived by her children, Julie Ann Morris and Jason Neal Wallner (Erin), her grandchildren, Hope, Allison and Mason, brother Robert (Emma) and Helen (Ray) as well as many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alcine.
A woman of faith, her family is comforted by the knowledge that she is with her Lord and Savior.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to C.O.P.S. North Florida Chapter to support families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, January 2, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225. A funeral service will occur Monday, January 2, 2023 at 10:30 AM in 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225. A committal service will occur Monday, January 2, 2023 immediately following the funeral service in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
