Mary Ann Ade passed away peacefully in her home on August 18, 2015 after a twelve year battle with lung cancer. Born in 1932 in Tampa, Florida to William W. and Margaret Jewell Vaughan, she attended the University of Florida where she met her husband and graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in elementary education.
After teaching school in Gainesville and Jacksonville for several years, Mary Ann devoted the rest of her life to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, being a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her husband, three children and six grandchildren. She was a counselor and prayer warrior who would faithfully pray about any problem for anyone who was anxious, sick or burdened. Mary Ann enjoyed flowers, nature, cooking and entertaining. Hers was a splendid life well lived with the many roles that the Lord graciously entrusted to her.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, William W. Vaughan, her mother Margaret Jewell Vaughan, and her brother, William W. Vaughan. She is survived by her husband, James L. Ade, her daughter, Leanne Caldwell (Andy), her son, W. Theodore Ade (Temple) and her daughter, Elizabeth Ade. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Caldwell, Andrew James Caldwell, William Jesse Caldwell, Saralyn Caldwell, Olivia Anne Ade and Walker Lee Ade.
A private internment service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday August 29, 2015. A memorial service for Mary Ann will be held at Christ Church Jacksonville, Anglican, 9917 103rd Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32210 at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday August 29, 2015, Fr. Mark Eldredge presiding. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ Church Jacksonville, Anglican Building Fund or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
