Marjorie “Margie” Norris Holbrook passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018. Margie lived in Jacksonville for most of her life. She graduated from Landon High School, attended Florida State University and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa and a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Prior to raising her children, she taught elementary school and spent time acting in local theater productions. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed gardening and playing bridge, and loved telling jokes. She particularly enjoyed her Thursday bridge club with her friends of more than 65 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. One of her greatest joys was the extensive time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, writing short stories and using flash cards to teach them to read and to love reading at very young ages.
Margie was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, H. Leon “Dick” Holbrook. She is survived by her children, Linda Holbrook, Kathy Cold (Charlie), and Hank Holbrook (Pam Paul), her grandchildren, Heather Dallafiora (Mark), Don Smith (Aelly), Henry Holbrook, Stephanie Cold (Jeremy Turim), Kevin Cold and Chad Nussbaum, and her great-grandchildren, Michael Visali and Bella Smith. She is also survived by her devoted caregiver, Eartha Daniels.
