Marie Denise Watson

Marie Denise Watson, “Denise” 86, passed on December 29, 2020. Denise was the daughter of Francis James Hugh Dever and Clotida Marie Burridge. Denise attended St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Miami Beach, Fl. and Spring Hill College in Mobile, Al. where she received a Masters Degree in Music and a minor in business. Denise was married to the love of her life, Max Theodore Watson, Jr. on August 1, 1959 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Max and Denise made Jacksonville home together with their 3 children for 52 years. Denise was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and during her 12 years attending school at St. Patrick’s, Denise was fondly sought after to perform in church, musicals, and Operettas from a very young age and continued her musical performances throughout her college years. Denise was a devout Catholic and volunteer in many clubs and organizations within the St. Paul’s parish including musical co-director and director of the St. Paul’s choir for 35 plus years, President of the St. Paul’s Parents Auxiliary, served on the Parish Council Organizational Committee and a member of the Ladies Guild. Denise was a true perfectionist who enjoyed a challenge. She had a delicate touch caring for her family, her beautiful rose garden, preparing gourmet meals and creating delicious desserts, fishing and crabbing in the summer time, card games, tailoring clothes for the family and our beloved cats. Denise was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her three children: William F. Watson (Mylene); Julia M. Watson, Denise A. Vonderhaar (Thomas). Grandchildren: Nathaniel P. Watson, Alexander G. Watson (Kiley), Teresa Kate Vonderhaar, Agnes Clare Vonderhaar and Great-Grandchildren: Gage, Pierce, Delaney and Blakely Watson. There will be a private family Mass at the burial site. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 2609 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL. 32204
