Marie Hewlett Bowman, a long-time resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed from advanced vascular dementia into the arms of her Savior on July 7, 2022, at the age of 75 while in Hospice care at St. Vincent's Hospital.
Marie graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1965. She was a Mortgage Underwriting Manager for many years with various companies, including BancBoston Mortgage, and eventually became a Mortgage Fraud Investigator. Over the years, she led a Scout group, participated in bowling leagues, collected lighthouses, enjoyed boating on the St. Johns River, and even owned a monster truck she enjoyed driving through the mud. Marie's greatest passion was helping children, and she loved teaching kids and volunteering for VBS every year at her church. Marie's favorite past-time was her grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, L.R. and Virginia Hewlett; and her brother, Ray Lynn Hewlett. She is survived by her brothers Kenny Hewlett (Valerie) and Gary Hewlett (Brenda); sister-in-law, Yvonne Lynn; son, Tom Brownett; son, Ronnie Eggers and his children, Megan Schulz (Josh) and Dylan Eggers; daughter, Michelle Mauricio (Leroy) and their children, Sabrina, Alexander, and Lorenza; and many nieces and nephews. She was also very proud to have a great-granddaughter, Aurora.
In the last year of her life, Marie was not able to talk. But she continued to post and comment on social media and send messages of love as often as she could. In her final days, she was still blowing kisses to doctors and nurses, and family and friends who would visit.
A celebration of Marie's life will be held on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Marie's home church of Calvary Worship Center, 3266 Southside Blvd in Jacksonville, Florida.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for their exceptional care of Marie in her final month of life. Additionally, they would like to thank Calvary Worship Center and Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home for their care of the family and her final arrangements.
