My Zia Maria...I have not written a message to you. It's been a year already & I just wanted to write something so profound & memorable, but the pressure to do so got too big. I love you so much. I was on that next flight to come see you. I will always remember how you would stick up for me when my Mom would get mad at me for being too "Americanized". I could always be me with you when I couldn't with my Mom. I loved all your crazy stories of the Italy days. You were just so funny when you will tell your stories, especially with your hands moving all around. You always had me laughing. My Mom would always tell me stories about you and her, as well. I love you and miss you so much. I wished I had come to see you MUCH sooner (& much more often). I am so sorry. You and my Mom are finally together & probably up to your old ways....my Mom is with you and you are with my Mom, taking care of each other or being up to no good :).Non dimentichero mai voi, Zia.

it's been a year sinces you left us, it's hard enough that you are not with me,i miss you being at the house watching your rai italian channals talking with your friends  on the phone and cooking the meals when i get home from work.i miss you so much.and i love you forever.i miss your voices....ti amo sempre..your daughter Sylvia L. Its been a year since you have been gone and it feels like yesterday. I miss you so much. I still hear you say "Erlinda its momma you forgot you momma" no I will never forget you. Ti mango angora and sempre and ti amo per sempre. I miss taking you to Alhambra. I love you and miss you every day.

I wonder sometimes where my head is at. I was reminded today that a guestbook for you existed and I don't remember ever entering a message.  It has now been just over a year since you passed away and as Linda always warned me.. it does not get any easier with the passage of time.  I miss you as much today as I ever did.  I look at sometime that reminds me of you and it takes everything in my power to not break down. I dont believe you've ever doubted how much we all loved you.  It is selfish to want you to be with us forever but if anybody in my life I wish was here right now to talk to, it would be you. I will always love you

Saturday night, Sofia had a dream of Nonna. It was the night before the funeral. She usually doesn't remember her dreams. In her dream, Nonna was telling Sofia she was happy. Her words. A 5 year old's vocabulary is limited, but it's all that she can remember. I wonder if mom was trying to prepare her for the funeral, since she was the youngest grandchild. Sofia says she misses you.

We were so blessed to have Maria as our dear friend and neighbor for more than 40 years. Our first memories of her are funny ones as we had to resort to charades in order to understand one another. Through the years we shared good times and bad and we will always treasure the time we had together.  Erlinda, Claudio, Sylvia, Tony,Rolando and family, please know that our hearts are with you.
