Celebrating the life of Marguerite (Maggie) Lucas, 94, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Maggie was born on April 9, 1920, in Chicago, IL, to Cornelius Joseph Bradley and Mary Ellen Browne Bradley. She lived in Jacksonville, FL, for 61 years and is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gregory Bright Lucas, and her son, Stephen Alan Lucas. Maggie was a devoted Navy wife and was active in the Navy Wives Club. She worked tirelessly for 19 years for the American Red Cross, NE Florida Chapter, and was passionate about her job helping military families. Maggie was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, and her faith in God was unwavering. She loved to read and travel, had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved the horse races and the Chicago Cubs. Maggie loved life and displayed an unshakable love and loyalty to her family and friends that could not be measured. She touched the lives of everyone she met and made the world a brighter place. She will be missed dearly by all. Maggie is survived by her loving children Brad (Virginia) Lucas, Betty Crago, Tom (Evonne) Lucas, John (Laura) Lucas, Debbie (Robert) Ballard, as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at eleven o clock in the morning. Interment will be following at Jacksonville Memory Garden, with reception to follow at the Church. The family will receive friends at a Rosary vigil held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home on Edgewood Avenue on Friday, August 29, 2014, from six o clock until eight o clock in the evening.
