Mrs. Hill was born in Gainesville, Florida, the daughter of the late Robert Cleveland Philpot and Agnes Elizabeth (McClain) Philpot. She was educated in the public schools of Gainesville, Florida and attended Stetson University for two years. In 1948, she married the late Frank Stephen Hill of Tampa, Florida and resided in Jacksonville, Florida for the remainder of her life. She worked part time for a number of years in the retail trade, traveled with her husband and pursued numerous hobbies and interests.
She is survived by her children, John P. (Helen) Hill, Marsha Ellen Hill, Cary (Bob) Castengera and close family friends, Kent, Debbie and Caleb Williams, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Committal Service for immediate family will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery of Gainesville, 401 S.E. 21st Avenue, with Chaplain Jim Fogle-Miller officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made either to Community Hospice in Jacksonville or to the Jewish National Fund for trees to be planted in the State of Israel in Mrs. Hill’s name.
