Margaret Mary Heekin, 96, passed away quietly on October 11th, 2016. She was born to Edward Martin Repper and Minnie Blanche Duffy Repper in Orbisonia, PA on February 5, 1920, and moved to Jacksonville as a teenager. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1939 and went on to St. Vincent’s Nursing School, graduating as an RN in 1942. “Mary” traveled the world as a Navy wife and made a home for her family with every new adventure. She is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, the love of her life and her one and only, CDR Robert Patrick Heekin Sr.; siblings, William Dominic Repper, Elizabeth Jane Repper, Phillip Repper, Patricia Rose Repper, Richard Simon Repper, Edward Martin Repper; and her son-in-law, William Richard Stevens. She is survived by her children, Mary Malissa Heekin Stevens, Colleen Patricia Heekin, Robert Patrick Heekin (Roohi Kahn Heekin), Margaret Heekin Maltby (Stephen C. Matlby); her grandchildren, William R. Stevens Jr., Robert C. Stevens, John P. Stevens, Michael A. Stevens, Jacqueline Heekin Parnell, Andrew Patrick Matlby and Elizabeth Jane Nicholson; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14th, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville with Rosary and Prayers held at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 15th at Basilica of Immaculate Conception, 121 E Duval St, Jacksonville, FL 32202 at 10:00am with the Very Reverend Edward Murphy, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
