Margaret Arleene Dowdy

Margaret H. Dowdy, died in Jacksonville, Florida on May 22, 2015. She was born in Savannah, Georgia, graduated from Savannah High School and attended Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina. She worked for an accounting firm in Savannah until her marriage in 1940. Later in life she was CFO for the Visiting Nurses Association of Jacksonville, a member of Swaim Memorial Methodist Church in San Marco and a lifetime member of the Garden Club of Jacksonville, Larkspur Circle. She was fond of being near the water and of gardening, but especially of her family to whom she was loving, caring and supportive. She was also known for her wit and stories of times past.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell (Mike) Dowdy, who died November 9,1973. She is survived by her daughters Nancy Ruckert (Ted) and Elaine Entenza, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews and their children.

Graveside services will be held for the family at Oaklawn Cemetery on Saturday May 30, 2015.
