Margaret Ruth Bachman

Margaret Ruth Bachman of Lithia, FL passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023. Margaret Ruth was born to Vernon and Margaret Kelly in Durham, NC. She moved to Jacksonville, FL when she was 3 months old and she grew up in their newly built home in Granada. She attended Hendricks Avenue Elementary and then went on to Landon Junior/ Senior High school; which is where she met her husband of 65 years, Bob Bachman.

She became a majorette while at Landon High School and would eventually become Head Majorette. From there she would go on to attend the University of Florida. At UF, she joined “The Pride of the Sunshine,” Florida’s marching band. She became a Majorette there, as well as the Kappa Alpha Rose and Chi Omega Treasurer.

Also while at Florida, she and Bob got married and had their first son Bob, Jr.(Melody). Soon after they moved back to Jacksonville and would end up having four more children Charles (Chip deceased), Ben (Michelle), Bonny (Michael) and Brian (Shelley). She had 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She would end up living in Tampa, FL, Houston, TX, Miami, FL, Tavernier, FL and finally in Lithia, FL. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was most proud of the legacy that she left in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family and was completely devoted to them. She had a strong faith and a good sense of humor, which she has passed down to her family.

Her visitation will be Tuesday, April 4 from 6:00- 8:00 PM. Service will be Wednesday, April 5 at 11:30 AM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel. A graveside will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with a reception immediately following at the home of Bob and Melody Bachman.
