Mae Stephens

Mae Stephens was born on March 28, 1924 in Norfolk, VA and passed away on March 11, 2016 in Orlando, FL at the age of 91.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Bell Berrier and John Berrier. She was also predeceased by her siblings and her beloved husband, Fitzhugh L. (Steve) Stephens, Jr. with whom she is now reunited.

She is survived by her sons, Terry L. Stephens (Lynn) and Michael A. Stephens (Aini). She also leaves several nieces and nephews and 2 grandsons, Michael B. Stephens and Kristjan Arumae.

Mae was a loving and dutiful wife and mother. She was always ready to take care of any family member who needed her and was always there for them. She was a dedicated homemaker and was very active in taking care of their home while Steve worked.

She was a lifetime member of the Palmetto Circle of the Jacksonville Garden Club and Florida Garden Club and was talented in making creative and beautiful floral arrangements, winning many ribbons during competitions. Her made from scratch cakes and pies delighted everyone. She and Steve were especially dedicated to caring for the “little angels” in the nursery at Murray Hill Baptist Church where she was a long time member.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial bequests be made to the charity of your choice.
