Mae Condra, 86, of Orange Park, FL passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 15, 1938, Mae lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, and love for her family, friends, and community.
Mae was married to her devoted husband, John Hudson Condra, for 64 wonderful years, celebrating their anniversary just days before her passing on December 3, 2024. Together, they built a life filled with joy and deep affection for one another.
Mae was a proud mother to son Frank Wilson III and daughter-in-law Susan Wilson, and daughter Kimberly Homitz and son-in-law Scott Homitz. She was a cherished grandmother to Sara Ellerbe (Luke Ellerbe), Jenna Wilson, Kelsey Homitz, and Drew Homitz. Mae also leaves behind many family members, sisters Barbara Hill (Husband Bob Hill), Terri Dawsey, and nieces Angie Zingaro Echeverria (Children Marco Echeverria and Sofia Echeverria) and Tori Coker who all knew her for her loving heart and compassionate nature.
A dedicated professional, Mae retired after more than 30 years with USF&G Insurance Company, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. She then went on to work part-time for the PGA Tour and spent countless hours over the years volunteering at TPC Sawgrass for The Players Championship.
Mae’s passion for animals was another defining feature of her life, and she had many beloved pets throughout the years. She was a true animal lover, always making sure no creature went hungry, no matter the circumstances. Her deep connection to animals was evident in the way animals seemed to trust her instinctively, often drawn to her gentle presence.
Along with her love for animals, she was also an extraordinary cook. She was known for preparing amazing meals and dishes that brought joy to every family holiday. Her talent in the kitchen seemed effortless, yet each dish was made with love and care. Her cooking not only filled the house with mouth watering aromas but also created lasting memories that brought the family closer together.
Mae’s greatest legacy, however, was the love and care she showed to those around her. Her selflessness, warm smile, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to honor Mae will be held on Friday, December 27th, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM. A reception will be held immediately after the service. Interment will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mae will forever be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her loving heart, and the profound impact she made on those she left behind.
