

On October 20th, 2022 at 1:20AM, Lydia Peña de Guiño Coleman passed away peacefully at Orange Park Medical Center surrounded by her immediate family and all of their love. She was born on June 24th, 1947 in Tiaong, Quezon, Philippines to Perfecto & Anita de Guiño and was the second oldest of 8 sisters and brothers and an additional 10 half brothers and sisters.
Lydia immigrated to Jacksonville, FL in December of 1971 and proudly became a naturalized citizen five years later, in 1976. It was during this exciting time of her new life that she fell in love and married Bruce Coleman on November 20th, 1976. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage together, happily raising their children and enjoying the company of their grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They built a life rich with love, laughter, family and friends. Lydia spent 51 years in the Jacksonville area and was a beloved member of the Filipino-American community. She had a reputation for making the best Filipino food for the hundreds of gatherings she hosted or attended throughout the years. Lydia lived a life filled with family and community. Her legacy will always be marked by her pure heart and desire to fulfill her honest purpose to help people.
Lydia was predeceased by her parents - Perfecto Garcia de Guiño and Anita Centeno Peña de Guiño, her elder sister - Merly de Guiño Landicho, and her children - Denise & Jorge Coleman. She is survived by her beloved husband - Bruce, her sons - Edgar Sumala & Bruce Coleman Jr, her daughter - Leslie Ann Coleman-Hafer and her husband Jason Hafer, and her 5 grandchildren - Vanessa Nayeri, Mariah Nayeri, Aaliyah Sumala, Ethan Hafer and Emery Hafer.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Lydia on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32244.
