Lula M. Jolly was born December 12, 1939 to Birnis and Virginia Blash in Mershon, Pierce County, Georgia. The family later relocated to Fernandina Beach, Florida where she graduated from Peck High School. After high school, she graduated from Walker Business College in Jacksonville, Florida. After many years of service, she retired from the Duval County School System.
She married Lewis T. Jolly in June of 1961. They were blessed with three children from this marriage. She was a longtime member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Lewis Jolly, children Lewis T. Jolly, Jr., Angela Jolly-Williams, and Cassandra Jolly-Dowdell, three grandchildren Symone Williams, Bakari Dowdell, Alexia Jolly, and brother James Simmons (Miami, FL); brother-in-law Bill Dunham; nephew Craig Dunham; along with a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Amy Dunham and her fourth grandchild Sean Carter.
The viewing will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 N Main St, Jacksonville, FL 32206.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church 3026 Woodlawn Road, Jacksonville, Florida. She will be buried at the National Cemetery on 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218-1247. Repass will be held at the church following funeral services.
