

Lula was born on January 24, 1933 in Madison, FL to William Henry and Laura Kathleen Bailey. She graduated salutatorian from Madison High School in 1951 and went on to earn her degree from Florida Community College of Jacksonville. Lula also served in the Financial Aid Department of FCCJ for 18 years.
Married 26 years to the late Benjamin Dryden and married 23 years to the late Charles Carney, Lula was active in her church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School.
Lula is survived by her daughter, Debbie Chesser Collins (Roger) and grandchildren Angie Chesser (Shawn Thompson) and Jaime Fraleigh (Jack), great grandchildren Benjamin James and Sophie Rose Thompson; Her stepchildren Ruth Umstead (Chip) and family, Tim Carney (Amy) and family; Her siblings T.W. Bailey, Josephine Lane, Peggy Scott (Donald), Weta Lane, Loretta Baxter (Lester), and Franklin Bailey.
Lula will forever be remembered for her lively spirit, love of her church, family and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 and coordinated by Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 904-781-9262.
