Lucille Elizabeth Marshall, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, 101, went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2020 at bedtime. She wasn’t sick, she wasn’t in pain, she did not die of Covid-19 or related complications. Her time here was finished and she went peacefully on to glory!
Having come with her family to live in Jacksonville in her Jr. High school days, Lucille was a longtime resident of the Jacksonville area. She lived and worked briefly in New Orleans, LA, Pompano Beach, FL, and Satellite Beach, FL, but returned to live in Jacksonville in 1981 until the time of her death. Lucille was an 18-year resident at Pablo Towers in Jacksonville Beach.
My mom “worked all of her life”, as she would say, starting her first job at 18 and continuing to work into her late 60’s, at an accounting career that took many twists and turns. Her favorite and most rewarding years were as the manager of Arvida Corporation Credit Union in Boca Raton. She earned many achievements such as President of the Palm Beach Chapter of Florida Credit Union League and by way of this position served on a Board of Directors where she was the only female among 10 members. Also, she was selected by Law Review as one of the “Outstanding Women in Banking and Finance of Palm Beach County”.
During her years in South Florida, she was a very active volunteer in the ministry at Bibletown Church. She served on the hospitality committee there, and was very involved in the many special outreach and worship programs, hostessing these Saturday night special events. This was so meaningful to her and she was proud to be a part of such a soul-winning ministry. In more recent times, Lucille attended and was a member of First Baptist Church, downtown Jacksonville.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years: Robert Marshall, her daughter: Marsha Pozin, parents, Frederick and “Mae” McDonald, siblings: Ethel Harrison, Harold McDonald, and Dorothy Roberts. She is survived by her daughter: Karen Davis, her sister: Margaret Welsh, her nieces: Devon Brennan and Dee Warden, her nephew: Steve Welsh, 3 grandsons: Richard Davis, Ryan Davis, and Billy Wilmoth, and 6 great-grandchildren.
We would like to acknowledge Woodland Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center and Community Hospice for the support, compassion and care they have provided to my mom in the last five years.
A Graveside Service, to celebrate Lucille’s life, will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205 with Pastor John Dawson officiating.
