Jack was my boss for a number of years. I’ll always respected and admired him. He was definitely a people person. From a laborer to a supervisor he always made them feel important. Ive never met anyone that didn’t get along with him. He is definitely missed by many.

Jack, Louie and Carol were my neighbors on Wesch Blvd for over 10 years. I have many childhood memories of cookouts and "pool hopping" with the Louie. Jack subconsciously influenced my life in many ways, perhaps because of his easy going, yet no bull approach to life. As a carpenter in the Air Force for 8 years, I never forgot him admonishing me for coiling an extension cord without unplugging it first, "Son, you checking for a short in that cord?" he said. Words to this day still linger everytime I coil a cord. And like Jack,  my allegiance for UF, and my passion for golf never waivers. You will truley be missed....Louie (Matt) if you see this, call me sometime 850-978-1309.... God Bless, you Jack and your amazing family.

Grnadpa Jack was my wife's Grandfather since the day she was born. He was a good honorable man who always had a joke for you and a smile on his face. He welcomed me into the family 15 years ago (even though I was a Seminole) with open arms. I always enjoyed it when I had an opportunity to spend time with Jack and his wife. His uplifting sprit will be missed in our family deeply.

Mr. Mathews , you will truly be missed by many and trumpeted near and far as a good friend, father, grandfather, cousin ,neighbor...and the trumpet still sounds...you will be missed

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Jack passing.  Daddy must have needed you there with him as he only went the day before you.  RIP Sam Bailey and Jack Matthews.  The world really lost two wonderful men.

Mrs. Carol, Kathy, and family, I am very sorry for you loss.  I only briefly knew Papa Matthews, but even in that short time I learned what a true treasure he was to your family. I will never forget the kindness and love he had for his family.  Praying for peace to comfort you all.

My grandfather lived life well. His was a full life, a life dedicated to loving others. It was not a conscious effort he had to make; it was who he was at the core. Grandpa was always the first to step in and help others, no questions asked. Not because they "deserved" help but because his love for others prevailed. What a way to live! He was an incredibly humble man in that aspect and I am thankful for the example he set for us. I feel truly blessed to have been able to have a grandfather like Jack. I don't think everybody is so fortunate.

We love and miss you so much Papa.  You were such a fun loving and generous person who was full of love and you were the best grandfather ever to me just as you were me own.  Art the kids and I will cherish all the memories that we have forever.  We Love you.

Walt and I have so many great memories of the good times we shared tail gating with Mother and Jack for the Gator games,Jaguar games and even the Bulls games! Plus the great trips we took by bus, trains, planes and ships.  Jack was a gem and will always remain in my heart but I will miss him like crazy.  He wanted to be remembered as someone who enjoyed people and he did which is why he had so many friends. Rest in peace Jack...we love you.
