Lionel Wallace “Lyle” Ried, age 96, died on November 8, 2022 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Ecorse, Michigan to Adolph Hess Ried and Nettie Teal. Lyle served his country in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. Lyle and Geraldine Cora “Geri” Ried were married on August 24, 1948, in Tacoma, WA. Lyle worked for the US Civil Service for over 40 years. In 1960, they moved to Oak Harbor, WA, on Whidbey Island where they lived until 1995 when they moved to Sun Lakes, AZ. Lyle graduated from Clover Park High School in Tacoma WA. Lyle was an active member of the Lutheran Church both in Oak Harbor (Oak Harbor Lutheran Church) and Sun Lakes (Risen Savior Lutheran Church) and was an avid golfer who played nearly every day.
Lyle was preceded in death by Geraldine his wife of 65 years, and a son Steven Kenneth Ried (Alisa Karen Kaatz). He is survived by two sons, Dr. L. Douglas Ried (Diane St. Croix) and Richard V. Ried (April Pemberton, deceased). Lyle had 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
