Lindsay Elizabeth English Speer. Daughter. Sister. Wife. Mother. Born on June 13, 1987, into the arms of Steve and Linda English. Lindsay enjoyed a childhood full of ballet, piano lessons, Disney trips, riding horses with her dad, and having fun with her siblings. She was the middle child of the family, between her older brother, Stephen, and her little sister, Lauren. Together, they attended The Bolles School. Lindsay and Stephen celebrated a state championship together in 2002, as she was a cheerleader for the football team. In addition to excelling in academics, Lindsay was an excellent dancer during her Bolles career. During a Young Life camp in high school, Lindsay accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Lindsay was raised a Seminole by her mother, but ended up attending the University of Florida, like her father. She joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at UF where she met some of her lifelong friends. She also spent time at UF with Stephen and Lauren, who were also there for college, and they grew closer during these years. After college, Lindsay discovered the PA (Physician Assistant) profession and attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham for PA school. It was in Birmingham that she met her husband, William David Speer. Amid studying, they enjoyed travel, football games, concerts, and caring for their adopted cat, “Tiny”. Lindsay and David were wed in Jacksonville on May 10, 2014. They lived in Navarre, FL for a short period where they welcomed their beautiful daughter Elizabeth Lynne Speer (“Ellie”) into their lives on January 29, 2015. They then moved to Jacksonville and welcomed Blair Marie Speer to the family on March 15, 2018. The Speer family enjoyed Disney trips, spending time at the beach, and going to the Tennessee mountains, where David’s family resides. Lindsay loved decorating for the holidays and hosting family and friends during these seasons. Lindsay left us, unexpectedly, on October 4th, 2023. Those of us reading this struggle to understand how and why this happened. We want to see her again. We want to hug her. We want her children to run into her arms again. Ultimately, Lindsay was able to run into Jesus’ arms and hear His sweet voice. Her troubles are no more as she sees, hears, and feels the wonders of Heaven for eternity.
Lindsay loved children. Lindsay’s cousins, Carter and Taylor English welcomed a beautiful daughter to the world on August 23, 2022 named Isabelle Grace English, affectionately known as “Izzy”. Isabelle was born with Down Syndrome, and from the first day, Lindsay was her biggest champion and loved her dearly. Isabelle’s family lives in San Antonio, TX and they are starting a school for children with disabilities in an inclusive environment called the Rise School of San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please send donations to The Rise School via riseschoolsa.org.
A service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, located at 4801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32207. (The Lodge Chapel is located on the back left of the property). A “Celebration of Life” will be held at San Jose Country Club immediately following the ceremony, 7529 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32217.
