Linda Joyce (Parnell) Thrasher, age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on August 14, 2019, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Riverside. The only daughter of James and Josie (Flora) Parnell, she grew up in Jacksonville. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1960, and she married Rodney Thrasher in 1961. As a proud military wife, she lived in several parts of the United States, including Los Angeles, San Diego, CA, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Elizabeth City, NC. She worked in accounting, and was promoted to Assistant Manager within the CGES system at Otis Massachusetts Military Reservation on Cape Cod. Linda and Rodney retired in 2003.
She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Massachusetts. She was involved with high school class alumni planning. Her interests included sewing, crocheting, genealogy, and ceramics.
Linda is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rodney; three children Karen Boyer, and her late husband Kenneth, Cindi Hanley, and her husband, Brian, and James Thrasher, and his wife Christina; she is preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Thrasher; and she is also survived by her four grandchildren Thomas James (TJ) Thrasher, Nora Hanley, Kaleb Thrasher, and Jaxxon Thrasher.
A receiving of friends will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32205, 904-781-9262.
